Last time we were home, Nate took Will on a trip to Yellowstone to feed his animal mania. Will talked about that trip for two years, so Nate knew if he could, they needed to go again. Grandpa Moffett was able to take a couple of days off work and go too, and Will came home bursting with news and sightings and excitement.
He found a herd of pronghorn antelope mingled in a herd of buffalo, and apparently, they were pretty well camouflaged, so Nate was impressed yet again with his "eagle eye".
Will would really love it if Finley and I and Tyson came along next time, but it's such a fun boys trip, and Nate pointed out how different Will is when he isn't trying to compete for attention, or be the "big brother who knows it all". He is actually mostly so sweet with Fin and Tyson, but lately he has started saying "I'm bigger than you" in all kinds of situations, even to me, and I can't get him to explain what that has to do with anything.
They waited with a bunch of other visitors to see a grizzly bear that had lain in the long grass for a nap, but he was really snoozing, and they couldn't wait any more. But they were rewarded later that day with this black bear walking along the river!
He has had his "real life nature fix" for now - hopefully it will last him until next summer!
