The water in Preston comes from a spring up in the mountains called Willow Spring. After a little drive, and a short (ish) hike, you can get a drink right from the source. We decided to squeeze in one more nature experience so we took Will up for a campfire, some hotdogs and s'mores and a little hike to the springs.

The hike took a lot out of Will and he ate a hot dog and a half (would have been two if the other half hadn't dropped in the dirt) and some s'mores and some cookies (of course:)), and he got to try the corn my dad cooked in the fire.

Nate ended up carrying Will for most of the way - either on his shoulders or just in his arms, so he got double the workout the rest of us did.

And I got some super cute pictures:)

The source...

Family picture - possibly the only one we took all summer! It's tradition to have pictures on this log bridge whenever you hike up to the springs - we have some cute ones through the years.

Will did start out on his own power, but the high waters this year have washed out the smooth trail, and all the roots soon got the better of him. It did help that Jordan and his dog Gus were ahead of us - Will really likes Gus so he kept going so he could see him. So with another good Idaho adventure behind us, we moved closer to our return to the desert...

Love me a good Willow Flats hike. Unfortunately this year, we haven't made it up there. I was always too scared about taking the boys up there with all the water. Guess we can always squeeze in one more trip to Grandma's and Grandpa's before they leave.
So are you officially back in the desert now?
